RECENT COLLECTIONS

Inspired by America's first president and his remarkable estate on the banks of Potomac River in Virginia, Fabricut launches its second George Washington's Mount Vernon fabric and trimming collection. Over a period of 30 years, George Washington expanded and furnished Mount Vernon, cultivating the extensive acreage into a landscaped, well-considered artistic plan. In order to save the remarkable property, the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association formed in 1853 to faithfully preserve and fully restore George Washington's home and the numerous historic artifacts to its original appearance.

Drawing inspiration from the Mount Vernon Mansion and the estate's collection of fine and decorative art objects, including lacquer boxes, a writing desk and a punch strainer, Fabricut translates and updates these beautiful artifacts into an embroidery and trimming collection. With a rich mix of florals, medallions and lattices, this collection incorporates the elegant spirit of George and Martha Washington with a variety of embroidery techniques.

Mount Vernon's Curatorial Collection contains more than 15,000 objects, including paintings, ceramics, textiles and personal accessories. Fabricut found inspiration for the first collection in various archives and estate items such as fragments of Martha Washington's dresses, decorative trim on pistol holders and botanical gardens. An extraordinary resource, Mount Vernon's comprehensive collection provides a window into life at Mount Vernon and the style of George and Martha Washington, preserving a piece of our country's greatest history.
